Tom Grape founded Benchmark Senior Living in 1997 with one goal: to Transform Lives Through Human Connection. This mission is at the heart of the Benchmark experience, and it is reflected in the core values we’ve upheld for 25 years.

• Called to Care: For our associates, caring for residents isn’t simply a job – it’s a calling. They get to know and care for residents not just as residents but often as friends. In fact, many residents and their families tell us that they consider our associates as part of their families. Day in and day out, our associates go above and beyond to make residents feel comfortable, cared for and connected; whether celebrating a holiday, birthday, or another milestone or simply sharing a personal story over a cup of coffee.
• Better Together: We work better when we work together. Every one of our associates brings a set of skills to Benchmark. By working together and leaning on each other’s strengths, backgrounds and experiences, we are able to deliver the high level of care that has defined the Benchmark experience these past 25 years.
• Be the Benchmark: Since Benchmark opened its doors in 1997, our aim has been to not only set the standard for excellence in senior living, but to raise it. That translates into a relentless pursuit of knowledge and growth – both on an individual level and as a team. Our minds are constantly open to innovation and opportunities to change for the better.

We are proud of all our accomplishments in this past quarter century serving seniors through assisted living and assisted living with memory care. That includes becoming the leading provider of senior living in the Northeast and being named a Top Place to Work by The Boston Globe for the 14th consecutive year. These successes wouldn’t be possible without our incredibly caring associates, as well as the support and trust of our residents and their families.

25 years of nurturing residents’ passions and fostering connection.
We put as much effort into bringing residents together as we do into caring for them. That’s why every Benchmark community tailors its programs and events to residents’ individual passions and interests. Examples of this range from our resident created “Men Who Lunch Club” for gentlemen who like to get out together, to knitting circles in communities where residents create items to donate to local hospitals. By personalizing our programs, we’ve been able to foster stronger, more meaningful connections between residents, associates and their communities.

We’re not the only ones with a 25-year anniversary to celebrate. Many of our associates are celebrating their own 25-year anniversaries with Benchmark.

Beatriz Villagomez, Lena Robinson, Jennifer Robinson, Nancy Toppa, and Miguel Amoros are just a few of these extraordinary people.

“The company has been good to me from the beginning,” said Beatriz, a Resident Care Manager at The Falls at Cordingly Dam. “It has always been like a family. I have always loved the people, and so I enjoy it. I never even thought of leaving here.”

Lena, a Certified Nursing Assistant at Chestnut Park at Cleveland Circle, shares Beatriz’s sentiment. “I like working with the people I work with,” she said. “They’re like family. And I just like helping people.”

As for Jennifer, Nancy and Miguel, associates at Blenheim-Newport, they all have similar reasons for staying all these years; they say it’s the residents and the connections they are able to make day in and day out.

Beatriz, Lena, Jennifer, Nancy and Miguel – along with all our associates – are at the foundation of our culture of caring. They truly embody our core values.
