Benchmark Senior Living’s First New York Community Set to Open in Spring 2018
Benchmark Senior Living’s first New York community, Whisper Woods of Smithtown, is in the final stages of construction and slated to open in spring 2018 on Long Island. The $25 million project will feature a three-story building on 12.6 acres with 101 units – 71 assisted living and 30 memory care. Project members include Moseley Architects of Richmond, Va., and EW Howell Construction Group of Plainview, N.Y.
With six unique floor plans and premier assisted living and memory care services, the community is expected to create more than 85 jobs and holds capacity for 136 residents. Whisper Woods is designed to meet the growing demand for assisted living services on Long Island. In 2016, the U.S. Census Bureau estimated there are 133,163 Long Island residents 80 years old and older. That is a 22,161 increase from 2006 and a trend that’s only going to increase as the Baby Boomer generation continues to age.
“Our innovative approach to senior living is based on our mission to Elevate Human Connection,” says Desiree Krajnyak-Baker, executive director, Whisper Woods at Smithtown. “State-of-the-art amenities, gourmet dining, premier healthcare services and a robust program calendar will offer residents an opportunity to age comfortably in place.”
The experienced Whisper Woods staff will provide around-the-clock care and truly make it a place Long Islanders will love to call home.
